Originally part of Fairfax County, Loudoun was founded in 1757 and named after John Campbell, Fourth Earl of Loudoun. The history continues with residents of Loudoun being participants in the Revolutionay war, the President staying in Loudoun during the War of 1812, and finally with notable battles being fought in Loudoun during the Civil war.
